Companies team up
Dec 1 2005 TWO Huddersfield firms have joined forces to bring workplace safety to the fore. Safety Management and Monitoring Services Ltd has teamed up with internet development firm TBSS to set up a new web-based service. The move comes as SM&MS prepares for a move to purpose-built premises next year. SM&MS was set up in 1994 by Bradley couple Susan and Philip Morris to provide health and safety advice to small and medium-sized firms and self-employed business people. The company, based at Lion Chambers, John William Street, now employs 35 people and lists national property agents King Sturge and Sanderson Weatherall among its clients - as well as many smaller firms. The company, which also has an office in Bristol, is building a new headquarters at Bradley Business Park. TBSS was formed by three Huddersfield University graduates, who completed work experience with SM&MS and gained IT-related masters degrees. TBSS directors Philipp Steixner, Shawn Chan and John Lowe have helped SM&MS create three internet-based products covering the topics of asbestos, contractor vetting procedures and a health and safety compliance management system for multi-site property owners. Property companies including Lambert Smith Hampton are using the AsbestosPlus package while ContractPlus has more than 3,000 contractors on the database. TBSS, based at Railway Street, provides software services, including website design and development as well as hardware and network support. Richard Edwards, business development manager for SM&MS, said: "Our partnership with TBSS has been a huge success story. "We have developed three excellent products and forged an excellent partnership with a high quality local IT provider. "We are looking to benefit from our partnership with TBSS and we will look to further exploit IT business potential and advantage in the future." Link to Examiner Article |
