SM&MS' ContractorPlus is a web based database of contractors who have been rigorously vetted to ensure their health and safety standards are of the highest quality.
The system allows clients to search on line for reputable contractors and even filter the search by contractor service or location. ContractorPlus is the second phrase of the new SM&MS ERP System. It was designed to replace the existing ASP-based web application with new business functions. One of the problems SM&MS experienced was to maintain the same data on different database applications and spreadsheets. Our development team decided to migrate and integrate all existing data into a single, centralised database. ContractorPlus and the previous AsbestosPlus was designed to accommodate this need. This project is implemented in: JAVA 5.0, Java Servlet, JSP (JavaServer Page) and Java Tag Library. Utilising the FREE J2EE compliance Web Container Apache Tomcat 5.5, running on a FREE OpenSource Linux server - Debian. The backend Database is migrated from an existing Microsoft Access database to Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For ultra fast performance, SQL queries were optimised and implemented in Stored Procedures and UDFs (User Define Function). The XML-output facility in MSSQL Server 2000 is also been used with the Java Tag Library for seamless XSLT integration on user interface. In this project, the ultra-high performance framework Hibernate is used between the JAVA middleware and the database. It encapsulates most of the SQL coding for query and persisting data. Hence, reduce the development time. Functionalities:
SM&MS' AsbestosPlus is a web enabled asbestos management system, which allows access to pertinent asbestos data via the internet.
AsbestosPlus allows secure access via password protection to clients and third parties such as maintenance contractors, designers and project managers.
This project is the first component of the new SM&MS ERP System. It was designed to replace the existing Microsoft Access based application with a multi-user web application. The original Access System was accessed remotely by consultants via Microsoft Terminal Services, which require license for every user. Upgrading it to a web based application not only reduced the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) but the increase system performance over a normal ADSL Internet connection. This project is implemented in: JAVA 5.0, Java Servlet, JSP (JavaServer Page) and Java Tag Library. Utilising the FREE J2EE compliance Web Container Apache Tomcat 5.5, running on a FREE OpenSource Linux server - Debian. The Offline Survey Manager is implemented in Java Web Start with data persistence in XML on client laptop computers. Functionalities:
